INTERCOLLEGIATE ENGLISH ELOCUTION COMPETITION 2024

In honour of the 25th Commemoration Year of our Revered Founder H. G. Geevarghese Mar Dioscorus Metropolitan, the Department of English, in collaboration with the Literary Club, hosted an Intercollegiate English Elocution Competition on Wednesday, 17th July 2024, at 10 AM in the Seminar Hall of GCAS. The Inauguration Ceremony commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by the S4 English Students, followed by a warm Welcome Address by Dr. Binu Johnson, Head of the English Department. The Inaugural Address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. R. Gopakumar in the esteemed presence of the Administrator, Rev. Father Joseph Chacko. Following an engaging competition, Mr. Muraleedharan S., Assistant Professor of the English Department, announced the winners of the Competition. Among the seven talented participants, Mr. Soju C Jose, a second-year B.Sc Physics student from the University College, clinched the First Prize. Ms. K.J. Indraja, a second-year B.A English Language and Literature student from Vigyaan College of Applied Sciences, secured the Second Prize, while Mr. Rohith Aji Cherian, a second-year B.Com student from Gregorian College of Advanced Studies, earned the Third Prize. All participants received well-deserved Participation Certificates. The event was efficiently coordinated by the dedicated faculty members of the English Department and concluded with a gracious Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Sabarinath S., Assistant Professor of the Department of English.

International Day of Charity: Elocution Competition

In commemoration of the death anniversary of Mother Teresa, September 5th is observed as the International Day of Charity. The Literary Club of GCAS conducted an Elocution Competition in English and Malayalam to channel the spirit of giving and to raise awareness on the significance of charitable endeavours. The event aimed to inspire participants to eloquently express their thoughts on philanthropy, social responsibility, and the impact of charitable actions on communities. There were in total 14 active participants from all the four Departments. The Competition was successfully conducted by the Club Coordinator Ms. Amrutha Babu, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, and Club Members Dr. Kavitha K.S. Nair and Ms. Sukhi V.K., Asst. Professors, Dept. of Oriental Studies. Date: 5th September 2023 Topic: Goodness of Charity
