World Cancer Day - Blood Donation Camp
The National Service Scheme Unit and Health Club of Gregorian College organised a Blood Donation Camp in association with Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and the Peoples Blood Donation Army (PBDA) at the Seminar Hall on 03-02-25 to disseminate awareness on the importance of ‘World Cancer Day’.
The event was inaugurated by Principal, Dr R Gopakumar at 9.30 am. The blood transfusion team, consisting of twelve members, was helmed by Dr. Showick Basu, Medical Officer, SCTIMST. Among the sixty eight volunteers who registered at the Camp, thirty seven were able to successfully donate blood for the noble cause.
Mr. Sabarinath S (NSS Programme Officer), Ms. Manjusha Mohan J and Shehnaz B M (College Health Club Co-ordinators), and selected NSS and Health Club volunteers marked their presence at the event. The Camp concluded at 2.30 pm.

The 76th Republic Day
In observance of the 76th Republic Day, the National Service Scheme Unit of Gregorian College of Advanced Studies organised a Flag Hoisting Ceremony
on 26th January at the College Campus at 9.30 am.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National flag by Dr. R Gopakumar (Principal, GCAS). Following the ceremony, the NSS members organised ‘Thaliru’, a special ‘Edutainment Programme’ for the children of Holy Trinity Balabhavan and Balikabhavan, Alathara, Sreekariyam from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
The Programme, divided into two Phases, started off with a thrilling Soft-Skill based game named ‘Pictionary’ hosted by NSS Volunteers Mr. Harikrishnan and Mohammad Moosa of S3 English, and Anjitha, Aarsha and Aleema of S3 Psychology.
In the Second Phase, Mr. Sreedhin B S imparted the event a patriotic fervour by engaging all the children in a ‘National Flag-making tutorial’. After the conclusion, refreshments were provided to all the participants and volunteers.
Along with the Principal, Mr. Sabarinath S (NSS Programme Officer), Sister Hanna (Faculty Member, Mar Dioscorus College of Pharmacy), Sister Jolly (Caretaker, Holy Trinity Bhavan), Mr. Sreedhin B S (College Union Chairman) and selected NSS Volunteers marked their presence in the event.

Student Level Orientation Meeting for KELTRON- NSDC courses
The second Student Level Orientation Meeting for KELTRON- NSDC courses offered at Gregorian College of Advanced Studies was conducted on January 28th, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Seminar Hall, for Semester VI students. The meeting began with a silent prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Ms..Sarada Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Coordinator, KELTRON courses. She extended a warm welcome to everyone and briefly gave an overview of the purpose of the meeting.
The honourable Principal of the college, Dr. R. Gopakumar, shared his vision and insights on launching the courses at the college. In his enlightening speech, he explained the relevance of opting for the courses offered by KELTRON and highlighted its benefits in finding a career in the future.
On behalf of KELTRON, Mr. Sreejith Surendran, KELTRON- NSDC Campus Program Course Coordinator, elaborated on the prospects of studying training courses, the need for acquiring extra skills, and explained the details of the courses offered by KELTRON. Further, the interactive session involved a discussion on present youth unemployment in Kerala and how the students can prepare themselves in the current competitive age.
A detailed discussion was held on the two courses, with their prospects, fee structure, duration, and validity. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Rajaprabha, S6 Economics. She extended gratitude to everyone who attended the event.
In conclusion, the meeting helped students to understand the need and benefits of attending career-oriented courses.

Student-Level Orientation for Add-on Courses by ASAP -Kerala
The Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) organized a Student Level Orientation Programme on 21st January 2025 at 10:00 am in the Gregorian College of Advanced Studies Seminar Hall. The event aimed to introduce students to the objectives and advantages of the ASAP initiative and inspire them to utilize the opportunities it offers.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Aswathy V., the Coordinator of ASAP. She emphasized the importance of skill acquisition in enhancing employability and encouraged students to engage with the programme actively.
The Principal of Our College, Dr.R.Gopakumar, delivered the Presidential Address. In his speech, he highlighted the critical role of skill development in shaping students futures and appreciated the efforts of ASAP in bridging the gap between education and industry requirements.
The key session was handled by Ms. Reshmi, the Programme Manager, ASAP. She provided an in-depth overview of the programme, detailing its structure, benefits, and opportunities for students to enhance their skills. Her session was engaging and informative, inspiring and motivating the participants.
The session was skillfully anchored by Ms Adhithya, Assistant Professor, whose professional and energetic approach ensured the smooth flow of the programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Indraja, a student of S3 Economics. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, ASAP team, faculty members and the students for their support and active participation.
The orientation programme was a resounding success, providing students with valuable insights into the importance of skill development and motivating them to make the most of the ASAP initiative.
